A tribute to Vincent van Gogh : what a delicious challenge ! I undertook to bring together the formi-
dable landscapes, intense self-portraits and gloomy interiors. I had already made some prints with
Raphaël (a figure from a personal mythology, in the form of a green saurian), alone and anxious in his
room, strangely reminiscent of the room in the famous painting by van Gogh, which, to my mind, is the
perfect model of solitude and distress.

It seemed obvious to me that this room was inside the painter's head. Schoolboy memories of learning
to draw dissections and cross sections in those unforgettable "Nature science" lessons, enabled me to
adapt this vision.
